Centralised Photovoltaic Power Business

100MW Top Runner Project in a Coal Mining Subsidence Area in Xintai, Shandong Province

The 100MW Agricultural-Photovoltaic Power Complement Top Runner Project locates in a coal mining subsidence area in Xintai City, Shandong Province and covers a total area of more than 5,200 acres. With agriculture-based engineering construction and under the principle of effectively combining agriculture and photovoltaic power generation, the project is designed to promote the upgrading and transformation of traditional agriculture, the large-scale development of modern, technology-driven agriculture and the development of new energy power generation, increase the proportion of renewable energy and improve the energy supply structure.

The project adopts multi-form brackets and multi-specification modules. As to brackets, the project adopts a combination of fixed brackets and horizontal single-axis brackets which account for 20% and 80% of the total respectively. As to modules, the project adopts high-efficiency PERC 295W monocrystalline modules and N-type double-sided double-glass 310W monocrystalline modules. The 100MW Agricultural-Photovoltaic Power Complement Top Runner Project in Xintai, Shandong Province has obtained two utility model patent certificates issued by the National Intellectual Property Administration, namely "Diamond Installation Parts and Diamond Installation Platform" and "Inverted T-type Installation Parts and Inverted T-type Installation Platform".

Whyalla Photovoltaic Power and Storage Project in Australia

Located in Whyalla, Southern Australia, the Whyalla Photovoltaic Power and Storage Project has two phases with a total installed capacity of 12.22MW. The Phase I of the project, a 6MW photovoltaic power plant, covers an area of 10 hectares and has an annual output of clean power which serves the needs of 1,400 households in Southern Australia and reduces carbon emissions by 7,500 tonnes a year. The project will be equipped with an energy storage system for peak-load shifting, with a view to improving the utilisation of photovoltaic power. The Phase I photovoltaic power plant has been connected to the grid for power generation and officially put into operation. The 5MW/10MWh lithium battery energy storage facilities for Phase I of the project, and the Phase II of the project, a 6.22MW photovoltaic power plant, and related battery energy storage facilities will be put into construction soon.

The Whyalla Photovoltaic Project Phase I, as one of the first two grid-connected ground-mounted photovoltaic power plants in Southern Australia, has received high recognition and support from the local government. The municipal government of Whyalla sent personnel to visit the Group's Beijing headquarters in July 2018, whereby both parties wish to have further cooperation.

Distributed Photovoltaic Power Business

Wind Power Business

Lusa Wind Power Plant in Shandong Province

Lusa wind power plant is the Group’s first wind power plant put into operation and has an installed capacity of 48MW. It locates in Wudi County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province, which is a coastal wind power plant close to the Bohai Sea with abundant wind resources. In 2017, it was awarded the title of AAAA Wind Power Plant by the national evaluation for wind power plant production and operation indicators. Meanwhile, Lusa wind power plant was also awarded the title of AAAA Wind Power Plant by the national evaluation for wind power plant production and operation statistical indicators in 2019.

Damao Distributed Wind Power Plants in Inner Mongolia

The Distributed Wind Power Projects locate in Damao, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and have three phases with a total capacity of 69MW. Inner Mongolia is rich in wind resources while facing high wind power curtailment issue. Nevertheless, the wind power generated by the projects has been fully purchased by the local power grid and there is no wind power curtailment issue in general. With these projects, the Group has accumulated experience in the investment, development and operation of distributed wind power projects, providing strong foundation for the Group’s future development of distributed wind power projects. The Distributed Wind Power Projects with three phases located in Damao was awarded the title of AAAAA Wind Power Plant by the national evaluation for wind power plant production and operation statistical indicators in 2019.

Clean Heat Supply Business

Yongheng Project in Ningxia

Yongheng Energy Management Project in Ningxia is an energy-saving and environmental service project dedicated to civil heating and industrial energy conservation and emission reduction, clean utilisation of coal, and research and upgrading of integrated air pollutant control system.

It possesses an independent innovation patent namely "High-efficiency Micro-emission Integrated Powder Fuel Industrial Boiler System", which is the only high-efficiency and environmental-friendly pulverised coal boiler in China combining clean combustion of coal with the use of waste to treat waste. The core technologies of the system include clean and efficient utilisation of coal, effective transportation of coal, clean combustion of coal, flue gas treatment (use of waste to treat waste), treatment and disposal of three wastes (waste gas, waste residue and waste water) in boiler rooms and other integrated energy-saving and environmental technologies. The emission concentration of air pollutants in the system is lower than the emission standard for natural gas combustion, successfully solving the issue of "haze source" of the traditional coal-fired boilers and contributing to the blue sky and white clouds in the urban areas.

The high-efficiency, environmental-friendly pulverised coal boilers have become key energy-saving technology projects as promoted by China thanks to the high efficiency, energy saving and clean emission features. Yongheng Energy's "Flue Gas Dust Removal, Desulfurisation and Denitration Technology for Industrial Pulverised Coal Boilers" has been included in the 2014 Environmental Protection Technologies Catalogue issued by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and supported by China, and its "New High-Efficiency Pulverised Coal Boiler System Technology" has been included in the National Promotion Catalogue of Key Energy Saving and Low Carbon Technologies issued by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Energy Storage Business

Yangyi Photovoltaic Power Generation, Storage and Charging Project in Tibet

The Yangyi Photovoltaic Power Generation, Storage and Charging Project locates in Dangxiong, Tibet, at an altitude of 4,800 metres. The project has been fully connected to the grid since 9 December 2017 and is by far the highest-altitude grid-connected large scale commercial energy storage project in the world. Based on the original 30MW photovoltaic power plant of the project and with reference to the grid curtailment history of the plant, a 4.5MW/20.7MWh battery energy storage system was designed and installed to store excess photovoltaic power for discharge (output) when needed by the grid, which also paves the way for the Group's exploration and future implementation of grid AGC services.

Merits and implications of the project:

  1. It is the world's highest-altitude large-capacity commercial energy storage power station with a unique design enabling batteries to charge and discharge normally at high altitude and ultra-low temperature;

  2. The technology is advanced and the response speed of the energy storage system is within 100 milliseconds. 18 energy storage converters are connected to the grid in parallel with stable operation, making it to be the project with the largest number of energy storage converters operating in parallel in the world. Such number is larger than the number (6 in total) of energy storage converters operating in parallel in the National 863 Program in 2016;

  3. System efficiency at the AC side reaches 85%; and

  4. It proves to have the characteristics of virtual power plants after the grid-connected performance test by the China Electric Power Research Institute, laying a solid foundation for large-scale energy storage power stations in the application of new energy power supply side in the future.
